Hellens House

Visitors staying in Bloody Mary's room have often complained of having their sleep interupted by an elderly gentleman in a dark hooded gown. Is this the spirit of a monk murdered in this room by Round Heads during the Civil War? The house was established by 11th Century Monks instructed to do so by William the Conqueror, so it is not surprising that many hauntings of Monks have been sighted. The ghost of Hetty Walwyn is said to haunt the room where she was locked away for 30 years. Can the room be identified by etchings that she supposedly made on a window? And where is the body of John Lingen who was buried in a secret chamber during the civil war. The house is said to have many such spaces where secret burials may have taken place.
