Buckingham House

"IN THIS HOUSE GEORGE VILLIERS DUKE OF BUCKINGHAM WAS ASSINATED BY JOHN FELTON 23RD AUG 1628" says the plaque outside No.11 High Street Old Portsmouth.

The house has had many uses and owners since this event - from a pub called the Greyhound to a finishing school for girls. Its origin is definitely Tudor but many modifications occured during the Stewart period.
